"At Calvary"

Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucifeid,
Knowing not it was for me he died
On Calvary.
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty
At Calvary.

By God's Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I'd spurned,
Till my guilty soul implorying turned
To Calvary.
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty
At Calvary.

Now I've giv'n to Jesus ev'rything,
Now I gladly own him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing
Of Calvary.
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty
At Calvary.

Oh, the love that drew slavation's plan!
Oh, the grace that bro't it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span
At Clavary.
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty
At Calvary.

Hi again Katie! Oh, yes, I had a burdened heart indeed and I found liberty! But, interestingly even as Dr. Fisher preached yesterday on the forgiveness that is ours in Christ, I realized that I am still learning to appropriate that liberty to a fuller degree. Because I am forgiven I need to forgive myself and experience even more abundant joy and hope. Jesus is ever my advocate before the Father, only Satan condemns...I had even greater appreciation for my liberty in Christ as I thought afresh of His forgiveness! Yeah!!! Laurie B. P.S. I bet these hymns sound awesome as you sing them, but in my heart they are perfectly in tune, even though I can hardly carry a tune!
